01 Start from a trusted source
Ledger Live is the companion app for managing accounts and viewing your crypto portfolio alongside a Ledger hardware wallet. Get the app from Ledger’s official website or the verified app store listing for your device. Check the address carefully before downloading, and avoid sponsored search results, direct messages, and links in unexpected emails. A convincing logo or familiar color scheme does not prove that a page or app is genuine. This page is an independent access guide, not a Ledger sign-in service. It does not connect to your wallet or ask for account credentials. When in doubt, close the page and type the official address yourself.
02 Your recovery phrase is the key
Your Secret Recovery Phrase is the master backup to your crypto accounts. It belongs offline, in a private place that only you control. Never type it into a website, chat, email, support ticket, phone app, or computer—even if the request claims to fix a wallet, verify ownership, restore access, or prevent loss. Ledger support will never need your phrase. Anyone who obtains it may be able to take your assets, and blockchain transactions generally cannot be reversed. If a pop-up or person asks you to share it, stop immediately. Do not photograph or store it in cloud notes; follow the secure backup instructions that came with your device.
03 Read before you approve
Keep your hardware wallet with you, unlock it yourself, and connect it only when you intend to use it. Read transaction details on the device display, not just on your computer or phone: check the destination, amount, and network before approving. A button click in an app is not a substitute for checking what your hardware wallet shows. Decline anything you did not initiate or do not understand. Keep Ledger Live and your device firmware current using official update flows, and protect the computer or phone you use with a passcode and security updates. A little patience is worthwhile; there is no legitimate need to rush a transaction.
04 Pause when something feels off
Scammers often manufacture urgency: a countdown, a frozen account warning, a surprise airdrop, or a message from someone pretending to be support. Do not follow their links or install remote-access software. Navigate to official help resources independently and never let another person control your screen while your wallet is connected. If you think a recovery phrase may have been exposed, treat the situation as urgent: use trusted official guidance from a safe device to move assets to a newly secured wallet. This guide cannot inspect a device, recover funds, or verify an account. Take time to confirm every source and every action before continuing.
05 Know what access should look like
A normal wallet session begins inside the official Ledger Live app, with your hardware wallet connected and unlocked by you. You can review account information there, while sensitive approvals happen on the device itself. A web page asking you to “synchronize,” “validate,” or “unlock” a wallet by entering a recovery phrase is not a safe access step. This guide is intentionally limited: it cannot sign you in, check balances, link a device, or troubleshoot an account. Use Ledger’s official support resources for product-specific help, and reach them by navigating independently rather than trusting an unsolicited message.
